Samantha Daley, BAppScOT
Samantha Daley is an advocate of access and equity who has spent more than 30 years ensuring physical, sensory and cognitive challenges don’t get in the way of living a rich and rewarding life.
After obtaining a degree in Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) at Sydney University in 1991, Samantha began her career in the UK working in aged care, oncology, hand therapy, paediatrics, neurology, general surgery and community outpatients.
For the next seven years, Samantha travelled the world extensively, which included volunteering at Harare Local Hospital, Zimbabwe, Africa and Mother Theresa’s Home for the Dying in Calcutta, India. She also worked at the Dubai Special Needs Center UAE, a facility for severely physically and mentally handicapped children. It was here that she started her first private paediatric OT practice, later opening another in Lisbon, Portugal.
After returning home to Sydney, Australia, in 1998, Samantha founded OT4KIDS, a mobile Occupational Therapy business. Serving as director, CEO and practitioner, she predominantly practised in paediatrics and disabilities while servicing an aged care caseload. At this time, she worked collaboratively with a Speech Pathologist and Psychologist. The business subsequently evolved into SPOT4YOU & SPOT4KIDS, a mobile community-based, Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Psychology workforce model — as well as an Aged Care and Disability assessment workforce.
As an experienced allied health practitioner also delivering quality home support assessments, Samantha has gained valuable insight into the successes and failures of the implementation of the principles of wellness and reablement under Australia’s Aged Care Act.
