FAQs

Here are a few answers to commonly asked questions. If any of your queries or concerns are not addressed below, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Put simply: We are the original “SPOT” — as in Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy!

We are a flexible, mobile therapy service that travels to homes, schools, day care centres, nursing homes and most other environments, where required. This allows us to provide specific therapy in the setting that is relevant to the goal in achieving the best results possible.

SPOT4YOU & SPOT4KIDS is also a unique service because we provide Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Psychology assessments and interventions for all ages and types of difficulty. While we are known for servicing paediatric clients, we also manage the needs of adult and senior patients.

SPOT4YOU & SPOT4KIDS has no restrictions on its client base or therapy options. This means we can service clients of any age, with any presenting condition and for any period. Therefore, providing ongoing therapy as frequently as required and for the length of time necessary for the client and their family.

We can provide any type of service as required by our clients, including assessments, individual and group therapy, whole class programs, parent/teacher/carer workshops and education, equipment prescription and ordering, tele-therapy — all while working in their preferred setting.

One of our qualified therapists will arrange a time with you for your/your child’s assessment at a preferred location, which can be in the comfort and familiarity of home, school, day care or aged care facility. If you would prefer the assessment to occur at school or day care, we will contact your child’s teacher to ensure the assessment time is suitable for them.

After the assessment is completed, we write a report explaining the results and any recommendations we have. A copy is sent to you and, with your permission, to other professionals that may be involved, e.g., teacher, paediatrician or physiotherapist.

We then contact you to discuss the assessment results and arrange a suitable time to commence therapy should that be recommended.

This depends on the age of the client and the difficulties they are experiencing. All our therapists use best-practice, evidence-based methods to meet the needs of our clients. For example, when working with children, we acknowledge that they learn through play, so we use fun, engaging, motivating activities that assist with the development of skills required.

Everyone is different, therefore progress will differ for each individual depending on many variables.

SPOT4YOU & SPOT4KIDS uses evidence-based, best-practice assessment and interventions that aim to help you see:

  • Improvements in health or quality of life
  • Improvements in function or level of independence
  • Attainment of intervention goals
  • Service user satisfaction
  • System changes such as reduced hospital length of stay, waiting lists and readmission rates

Occupational Therapists aim to optimise a client’s independence and function in day-to-day activities. For more information about Occupational Therapists please see the Occupational Therapy page.

Speech Pathologists aim to improve communication as well as social skills to optimise a client’s independence and function in day-to-day activities. For more information about Speech Pathologists please see the Speech Pathology page.
