Bronte Beresford

Occupational Therapist

– Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Southern Cross University

I am a new graduate Occupational Therapist, who is passionate about supporting clients to achieve their goals and reach their full potential in life.

I completed my clinical student placements at a private paediatric clinic, in acute and sub-acute wards in a major hospital and two residential aged care facilities. These supervised placements allowed me to use a range of my occupational therapy skills and complete interventions and assessments in different environments and with varied clients i.e. paediatrics, adults and the elderly. This included completing home modification assessments, cognitive assessments for both children and adults, equipment prescription, wheelchair prescription, pressure care education, fine and gross motor assessments and interventions, facilitating group and individual sessions for upper limb strengthening and mobility and social skills groups.

Through these experiences I have worked closely with clients with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain injury (ABI), Strokes and other neurological disorders.

Prior to the completion of my studies, I worked as an Occupational Therapy Aide in a paediatric clinic which allowed me to work and implement session plans with children in the school, home and clinic environment. I also worked as a Learn to Swim instructor and swim coach for children aged 3–15 years of age. I also have my Certificate III in Fitness and conducted a mobility, strength and stability class for over 55’s. Through my previous work, I was able to build a strong and positive relationship with my clients and their families which further motivated me to become an Occupational Therapist.

I look forward to working with you soon.
