Occupational Therapist

– Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Southern Cross University

My clinical placement practice involved engaging with clients of all ages in various settings. I thoroughly enjoyed my paediatric placement experiences, beginning in a metropolitan early learning centre, followed by outreach practice in remote Queensland between a kindergarten and primary school. Much of my work to date includes sensory and emotional regulation with children and was targeted through individual sessions and school-wide education. Outside of university, I’ve had experience as a Therapy Assistant, implementing session plans with clients from Prep to Year 9 in home and school environments.

I have a desire to create strong relationships with clients and all others involved in their lives, as it is valuable in collaborating during all stages of the therapy process and building on strengths. I enjoy discovering what motivates each individual as a way to enable active and enjoyable participation in therapy.

Additionally, I have gained experience in adult care during my acute hospital placement experience. This highlighted the importance of creating plans with individuals and other professionals involved to ensure safe and best practice principles in a way that respects clients’ wishes.
